I had low hopes going into the movie. A book that has a significant notion on every page cannot be condensed to 105 minutes.

He had never met a blind person as a 29-year-old with no idea what he wanted to accomplish with the rest of his life. Jim never wanted to leave his modest room, which he had set up with his phone, radio, and tape recorder.
A stranger offered him a white cane and assured him he’d have it for the rest of his life… On one side of his chair, he had a white cane, and on the other, he had a recording from a stranger.
